Sergeant Major Dragos Coca
Sergeant Major, 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, 6th Marine Regiment

Sergeant Major Dragos Coca enlisted in the Marine Corps on 19 July 1999 at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Paris Island, South Carolina. In January 2000, Sergeant Major Coca was promoted to Private First Class and attended his Military Occupation Specialty School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri for Motor Transport School.
 
In February 2000, Sergeant Major Coca reported to India Battery, 5TH Battalion 10TH Marines, 2D Marine Division where he served as a motor transport operator and battery motor transport assistant chief. In September 2000 Sergeant Major Coca was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal. During his tour, he participated in a unit deployment program to Okinawa, Japan, along with seven Combined Arms Exercises aboard the 29 Palms training areas. In October 2002, Sergeant Major Coca was promoted to the rank of Corporal. 
 
In March 2004, Sergeant Major Coca received orders to 2D Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2D Marine Division and was assigned to H&S Company where he served as a Light Armored Vehicle Crewman and Platoon Sergeant.  During this tour, he deployed to Ramadi, Iraq as a Personal Security Detachment for the 2D Marine Division Commanding General. While deployed, in April 2005, Sergeant Major Coca was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Upon returning from deployment, he assumed the duties of a Platoon Sergeant for Security Platoon, H&S Company and on September 2006 he again deployed to Rawah, Iraq.  In June 2007, Sergeant Major Coca reported to the School of Infantry-East, Infantry Training Battalion and attended the Basic Infantryman Course.  Upon graduation in September 2007, Sergeant Major Coca reported to Camp Pendleton, School of Infantry-West where he attended the Light Armored Crewman Commander Course.
 
In January 2008, Sergeant Major Coca attended the Marine Combat Instructor Course aboard Camp Geiger, School of Infantry-East. Upon graduating the Combat Instructor Course, Sergeant Major Coca received orders to Marine Combat Training Battalion SOI-East and was assigned to Fox Company where he held billets of Combat Instructor, Weapons Primary Instructor, and Platoon Commander. In January 2009, Sergeant Major Coca was promoted the rank of Staff Sergeant. 
 
In January 2011, Sergeant Major Coca received orders back to 2D Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2D Marine Division and later deployed to Khan Neshin, Afghanistan, holding the billed of Team Chief Advisor, in support of OEF. Upon returning from deployment, Sergeant Major Coca reported to Alpha Company and assumed the duties of Platoon Sergeant. In May 2012, Sergeant Major Coca was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant and continued to hold key billets in the company as the Company Operations Chief and First Sergeant. 
In July 2013, Sergeant Major Coca received orders to 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division where he held the billets of Platoon Sergeant, Company Operations Chief, and Company First Sergeant. On May 2015 Sergeant Major Coca deployed in support of the 15TH Marine Expeditionary Unit, conducting Western Pacific operations. In March 2017, he was frocked to the rank of First Sergeant and received orders to 2D TSB, CLR-2, 2D MLG.
 
Upon reporting to 2D TSB, on June 2017, Sergeant Major Coca was transferred to CLB-6 in order to deploy as a Detachment First Sergeant with the Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force. Upon returning from deployment, on April 2018, Sergeant Major Coca assumed the duties of H&S Company First Sergeant.    
In June 2020, Sergeant Major Coca received orders to report to 3d Marine Raider Battalion, Marine Special Operations Command aboard Camp Lejeune, NC where he assumed the duties of Company First Sergeant for Headquarters and Services Company.
 
On 10 December 2021 Sergeant Major Coca was promoted to his current rank and reported to 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, 6th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division and assumed the duties of Battalion Sergeant Major.  
 
Sergeant Major Coca's personal awards include: Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal(Gold Star in lieu of second award), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal(2 Gold Stars), Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal(1 Silver Star, 1 Bronze Star in lieu of 7th award).
