Sergeant Major Jeremy P. Johnson is a native of Paddock Lake, Wisconsin. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in May of 1999 and went on to graduate recruit training from Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California in August of 1999. Following recruit training, he attended Infantry Training Battalion, SOI West, where he received the MOS designator 0311. Following graduation from ITB at San Onofre, he was assigned to 2nd Battalion 4th Marines, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. During his tour with 2/4, Sergeant Major Johnson deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) from 2000-2001 and again from 2002-2003 in the billets of team leader and squad leader.

Upon returning from deployment with the 31st MEU, Sergeant Major Johnson executed orders to Recruiting School at MCRD, San Diego, in November of 2003. After graduating Basic Recruiters Course, he was stationed at Recruiting Station Nashville, Recruiting Sub Station Cookeville, TN. While on recruiting duty Sergeant Major Johnson filled the billets of canvassing recruiter and station commander.

In December of 2006, Sergeant Major Johnson executed orders to 1st Bn 2nd Marines, 2nd Marine Division where he served as an Infantry Platoon Sergeant, deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007 and again in 2008.

In June of 2009, Sergeant Major Johnson executed orders to Marine Barracks Washington, 8th and I. While at Marine Barracks Washington he filled the billets of Marine Corps Funeral Director, Silent Drill Platoon Platoon Sergeant, Company Gunnery Sergeant and MBW Drill Master.

In September of 2011, Sergeant Major Johnson executed orders to 3rd Battalion 9th Marines where he served in Weapons Company as the Platoon Sergeant for the Combined Anti Armor Team, Weapons Company Operations Chief, and Company First Sergeant, deploying to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in October of 2012.

In May of 2013, 3rd Bn 9th Marines deactivated and Sergeant Major Johnson executed orders to School Of Infantry East where he served as Company First Sergeant in Advanced Infantry Training Battalion and Marine Combat Training Battalion.

In February of 2016, Sergeant Major Johnson executed orders to 1st Bn 10th Marines where he served as the Battery First Sergeant for India Battery 3/10 and the Regimental Headquarters Battery First Sergeant.

In January of 2019 Sergeant Major Johnson executed orders to 2nd Bn 8th Marines where he now serves as the Battalion Sergeant Major.
