Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Seth Kendrick was born in West Memphis, AR and grew up in Louisville, KY. He graduated from the University of Louisville in 2007 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in December 2008.
After completing The Basic School and Logistics Officer Course, Second Lieutenant Kendrick was assigned to Headquarters Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, NC. During this tour he served as a Platoon Commander within Truck Company Alpha. He deployed to Afghanistan from April 2011 to November 2011 in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, serving as a Logistics Advisor to an Afghan National Border Police Kandak. Upon return from deployment, First Lieutenant Kendrick served as the Company Executive Officer for Truck Company. In October 2012, he was assigned as the Assistant G-4 Future Operations Officer.
In January 2013, Captain Kendrick reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 7 in Twentynine Palms, CA, where he assumed duties as the Company Commander for Maintenance Services Company. He deployed with Combat Logistics Battalion 7 as the Logistics Combat Element Executive Officer/Operations Officer in support of SPMAGTF-CR-CC 15.2 from March 2015 to November 2015.
In June 2016, Captain Kendrick was ordered to Quantico, VA to attend Expeditionary Warfare School during Academic Year 2016-2017. Upon graduation, Capt Kendrick reported to the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory in May 2017, serving as an Action Officer in the Wargaming Division until June 2019.
In July 2019, Major Kendrick received orders to Combat Logistics Regiment 1 for duty as the Regimental Operations Officer. In August 2021 to February 2022, he deployed to Iraq for duty as the Deputy J4 for the Office of Security Cooperation-Iraq in Baghdad.
Major Kendrick reported to the Pentagon for assignment to the Joint Staff as the Force Readiness Analyst, J-35 Readiness Division, from August 2022 to July 2024. He returned to I MEF in August 2024, assuming duties as the 1st MLG G-3 Operations Officer overseeing all Current, Future, and Mobility operations across 1st MLG.
Lieutenant Colonel Kendrick is a graduate of the Expeditionary Warfare School and Command & Staff (Non-Resident). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Louisville, and a Master of Arts in Leadership Studies from Marshall University.
