Major Boehles, a native of Richmond, Virginia, enlisted into the Marine Corps Reserve and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina in February 2009. After completing recruit training, he reported to Marine Combat Training at School of Infantry-East in June 2009 at Camp Geiger, North Carolina, and finally, to the Basic MAGTF Planner's Course at Naval Base Little Creek, Virginia in July 2009. Upon completing initial enlisted training, he reported to Marine Air Control Squadron 24 (MACS-24) in August 2009 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. While at MACS-24, he served as a Training Clerk and Training NCO and ultimately attained the rank of Sergeant.
Major Boehles was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant via the Marine Corps Platoon Leaders Course program in August 2013. He reported to The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia in September 2014 and the Air Support Control Officer's Course at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, California, in April 2015. Upon completion of initial officer training, Second Lieutenant Boehles reported in July 2015 to Marine Air Support Squadron 3 (MASS-3) at Camp Pendleton, CA, serving as an Air Support Control Officer, Air Support Element Detachment Officer-in-Charge, Current Operations Planner, and Squadron Training Officer. While at MASS-3, he was promoted to First Lieutenant and deployed with the 5th Marine Regiment as part of the Command Element Air Cell for Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force Crisis Response Central Command 16.2 ISO Operation Inherent Resolve. After his deployment, First Lieutenant Boehles served as Headquarters and Service Company Commander at MASS-3.
He was promoted to Captain in May 2018 and received orders to report as Air Command and Control Plans Officer at the Fires and Effects Coordination Center (FECC), III Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Courtney, Okinawa, Japan, in July 2018. Throughout his FECC tour, Major Boehles coordinated planning and executed numerous training opportunities with the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, the Japanese Self Defense Force, the Republic of Korea Marine Corps, the 607th Korea Air Operations Center, the 18th Operations Group, and U.S. Seventh Fleet Fires.
Captain Boehles reported for duty as Marine Officer Instructor and Alpha Company Commander for Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Unit (NROTCU) Rochester, Rochester, New York in May 2021. He was promoted to Major in August 2023 and assumed the responsibilities of Operations Officer for NROTCU Rochester, University of Rochester. In June 2024, Major Boehles reported to the 12th Marine Littoral Regiment for follow-on duty with the 12th Littoral Anti-Air Battalion upon its activation.
He is a distinguished graduate of both the Expeditionary Warfare School Blended Seminar Program (2019) and the Marine Corps Command and Staff College Distance Education Program (2023). He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (2013), a Master of Science in International Relations from Troy University (2021), and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Rochester (2023). Major Boehles' decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various service and campaign awards.
